Let’s set this up right away: I saw a quote by Nick Ortner, who by all accounts is a nice person. I don’t mean anything personal by my response to his quote that said, “Today I release the belief that I am responsible for other people’s happiness.” That’s a sentiment that I have always been in feverish disagreement. You are responsible for another person’s happiness, without question, and it should be a part of your individual ethos. It’s absolute abandonment of the cause and effects laws of engagement and interaction.
